Rapsheet: Chris Carson week-to-week with mid-foot sprain

After Chris Carson was forced out of the Seahawks’ Week 7 loss to the Cardinals on Sunday night in the first half, Pete Carroll told reporters the running back had a mid-foot sprain, with an MRI required in order for the team to know the severity of the injury.

Before Carson’s MRI happened on Monday, the Seattle Times’ Bob Condotta reported the injury was not considered to be significant. Now, we know just how significant it is. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Carson’s MRI confirmed the diagnosis of a mid-foot sprain, adding that the injury would be considered week-to-week.

As Rapoport added, the week-to-week recovery timeline certainly seems to indicate Carson will miss time as a result. The running back has already dealt with a minor knee sprain this season, suffered in Week 3. However, Carson did not miss any games as a result of that injury.

Should Carson miss time, as is expected, with his mid-foot sprain, then veteran Carlos Hyde should step into the main role, with DeeJay Dallas providing depth and Travis Homer maintaining his passing down role (provided he is healthy).

In six games this season, Carson has carried 66 times for 323 yards and three touchdowns, while adding 22 catches, 147 yards, and three scores as a pass catcher.
